Product Description Chris is a veteran player who has shared the stage with such greats as B.B. King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, and Taj Mahal. He has also recorded with popular artists such as Boz Scaggs, The Pointer Sisters, and Van Morrison. That experience is evident on Seven Rivers. The music is not overly flashy, just tight and tasty. The first two cuts ('You Got Me By The Heart' and 'Eleven Dollar Bills') are propelled by the ripping harmonica playing of Norton Buffalo over Chris' riffing guitar lines. The rest of the blues tracks feature great interaction between guitar and keyboards and a tight band. And while blues tracks make up the bulk of the CD, the track 'Your Father' mixes heavy percussion, 80's style chorused/delayed rhythm guitar, compressed lead guitar lines and some heavily processed near-rapping vocals. Definitely not your father's blues. Seven Rivers also features two beautiful ballads, the chimey 'Seven Rivers' and the infectious 'Ireland'. From the Artist The CD "Seven Rivers" was a long time in the making, starting with tracks like Seven Rivers, Mean Old Woman, Your Father, and Ireland. Those four songs were recorded at my studio in San Rafael, CA in the winter of 1996. After putting those masters in the can and on the shelf, I started writing blues/rock material which resulted in the release of the CD "Tough Love" in 1998. I was quite busy promoting "Tough Love" and didn't think much about the earlier material until 2000 when I realized that my current band was sounding very good. Now was the time to do some more recording. I wrote five more blues/rock songs, and along with two songs by Chris Michie Band keyboardist David Kessner, we went into the studio, finishing up in late 2000. About the Artist Guitarist Chris Michie will make his J-Bird debut titled "Seven Rivers" on December 12, 2000. The blues based CD showcases Michie's stellar guitar playing which helped him emerge as a session guitarist in the '70s when he recorded with such artists as Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, The Pointer Sisters and Jerry Garcia. During the '70s and '80s, Michie toured widely with Van Morrison and has appeared on more than 6 albums with the legendary artist. “Seven Rivers”, the latest disc by Chris Michie.
