Seven, an uninspiring title but numerically factual, is an album from Glasgow-based Wolfstone, recorded as a contractual-fulfillment album with their original record label, Green Linnet Records. And you may disagree, but in my opinion it's the last REAL Wolfstone album.Technically disbanded in 1998, Wolfstone came back together to record Seven, but then moved to their own label and "re-invented" themselves with what they consider a "rockier" sound. Now, your mileage may vary, and I haven't heard much of their music since their "re-invention", but to me, what they consider "rockier" is to me more commercial and lacking in the Celtic flavor that drew me to their music in the first place, and generally much less interesting. The new, post-2002 Wolfstone has the same name, but it's a different band with a different lineup and a different sound.Now, if you LIKE the new sound, hey, great, wonderful for you. I'm glad, but I can't predict whether you're likely to like Seven or not. But if you're catching up and you liked the original sound of the band, from albums like Unleashed and The Chase, definitely give Seven a try. This is Wolfstone as they used to be.
