サムジョーンズといえば、キャノンボールアダレイとマイルスデイヴィス、ウィントンケリーやオスカーピーターソンなど、多くの名盤に参加しているベーシストだが、このアルバムはそんな彼のベースにスポットをあてた数少ないリーダー作のひとつである。基本的にはシダーウォルトンとのピアノトリオだが、4曲にストリングスが入っている。1曲目のブルースから聴かせる渋い演奏でしびれます！全体的には、いぶし銀な中にもスリリングで新しいアプローチが見られピアノトリオとしても申し分ないと思います。ストリングス入りも悪くはないが、やっぱりトリオで聞きたかったかな。
